| Free Health Care Professionals Real Nappy Resource Pack
A new real nappy resource pack has been launched for healthcare professionals in Herefordshire and Worcestershire to promote the benefits of using real nappies. Midwives, health visitors and other ante/post natal care providers will be able to use the free pack in antenatal and postnatal education to help parents and parents-to-be make informed choices about which nappy system to use on their baby. Developed by the Worcestershire County Council Waste Prevention Team the resource pack contains:
- an information leaflet giving clear, concise guidance on different styles of real nappies
- contact details for local real nappy retailers
- details of local Nappaccino Mornings and Evenings
- Real Nappy Incentive Scheme application forms
- real nappy samples to enable healthcare professionals to demonstrate the wide range of modern styles available.
Midwives, health visitors and other ante/post natal care providers can request a free Real Nappy Resource Pack by contacting Jane Orme Waste Challenge Manager on 01905 768267. A limited number of packs are available. You can apply online by emailing missionimpossible@worcestershire.gov.uk and requesting more information.
Cathy Hines project assistant said: “We are keen to let parents and guardians know about the option of using modern real nappies, which are easy to use and wash.”
“The County Council’s Waste Prevention Team is working to help residents reduce their household waste. One way people can cut their household rubbish by up to half and save £500 or more is by choosing real nappies instead of disposables. Eight million disposable nappies are thrown away each day in the UK. The vast majority of these end up in landfill and could take hundreds of years for them to decompose.”
