Recycle Now week, 2nd – 8th June 2007, was celebrated in style in Herefordshire and Worcestershire with the Mission Impossible waste reduction team dancing the can-can in full dress, to show you what you can-can recycle.
Worcestershire County Council’s waste reduction team worked together with the district Recycling Officers from Herefordshire and Worcestershire to put on a Moulin Rouge style show across the two counties. Officers travelled to a town each day over the national week in their green recycling bus, to show residents what they can-can recycle and how they can-can reduce their waste. The teams’ message was simple – ‘are you recycling all that you can-can?’ Dressed in can-can dresses the team also danced for the residents and asked them to join in – all in the spirit of working together to recycle all you can-can!
The team ran a competition throughout the week to answer a simple can recycling quiz, residents won reusable, jute shopping bags and 6 lucky residents were pulled out of the random prize draw to win iPod™ Shuffles – engraved with ‘recycle – transform something today’.
